2-acre Ctg port land recovered

A mobile court of Chittagong Port Authority recovered two acres of land on Wednesday.

Gautam Barai, executive magistrate and authorized officer of the port authority led the drive to remove more than 100 illegal establishments from Firingibazar Bridge Ghat to the New Bridge area in the port city.

Gautam Barai said more than 100 illegal establishments have been demolished from the Bridge Ghat to the New Bridge in a crackdown on illegal occupants at the port's own premises since Wednesday morning.

The evictions were mostly buildings under construction with mud houses.

Bamboo traders who also used the port land have also been evicted, he added.
