Jordan to take female garment workers

Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL), a government recruiting company, is going to send female garment workers to Jordan at a low cost.

Jordan’s MAS AL Safi Apparel Manufacturing LLC will employ 200 female workers as machine operators. Their basic salary will be JOD125 (Tk 15,158).

BOESL has recently issued a circular, announcing the terms and conditions of the job.

The workers will have to work 8 hours every day in six days a week. Besides this, independent machine operators will get payment for overtime, it said.

In the three-year long (renewable) contract, the employer will arrange accommodation, food and first aid and transportation for workers, it said.

The employer will pay the airfare for joining the job and the airfare for returning after 3 years of service and other conditions will be set in accordance with the Jordanian labour law.

If there is any lawsuit against any woman worker in Bangladesh or Jordan, she will be considered as ineligible for appointment, the circular added.

Workers should have relevant work experience and they should be aged between 20-39 years of age. Elected women workers will not need any money except Tk 200 for their finger print.
