All offices to run with 50pc workforce from Jan 24 to Feb 6


The government has capped attendance at public and private offices at 50 percent in an effort to contain the Covid-19 transmission in the country.

All the government, semi-government, autonomous, and private offices have been asked to operate with half of their workforce from Monday till February 6, following the health guidelines, a notification issued by the Cabinet Division said on Sunday.

The other half of the workforce will attend offices virtually, it said.

The fresh instruction comes at a time when the country is witnessing a sharp spike of coronavirus cases with the daily infection rate surging to 31.29 percent on the day.

According to the notification, Bangladesh Supreme Court will issue necessary directives about the activities of the courts during the period (January 24-February 6).

Besides, Bangladesh Bank and Financial Institutions Division will provide necessary instructions regarding banks, insurance and financial institutions.

On Sunday, the country registered 10,906 Covid infections and 14 deaths in a 24-hour span, taking the number of total caseload to 16,85,136 and fatalities to 28,223.

Earlier on Friday, the government announced the closure of all the schools, colleges and universities till February 6.
