Thousands walk along Padma Bridge after inauguration


Thousands of people walked on the Padma Bridge after inauguration of the dreamed structure by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday.

The Mawa end of the Padma Bridge was opened after the launching. In this scope, thousands of people walked on the viaduct of the Padma Bridge. But they were not allowed to go to the main bridge. The law enforcers faced difficulty in tackling the huge crowd.

Mentionable, the traffic movement on the bridge will begin at 6:00 am on Sunday (June26).

Earlier on Friday, the Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) banned the parking of any vehicle on the bridge and taking photographs standing on it.

The permitted speed limit on the Padma Bridge has been set at 60km/hour, BBA announced in a notification.

Also, three-wheeled vehicles such as rickshaws, vans, CNG, and autorickshaws along with pedestrians, bicycles, and non-motorised vehicles will not be allowed to cross the bridge.

Authorities also instructed all not to litter on the bridge.
