Nur meets Mossad member, photo goes viral

A photo of Gana Adhikar Parishad Member Secretary Nurul Haque Nur with Mendi N Safadi, a member of Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, has gone viral, causing uproar.

In the photo, Nur, also former vice-president (VP) of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), and Mendi N Safadi, who is also a member of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party, are seen standing smiling in front of a building.

Detective sources said Nur had a meeting with Mendi N Safadi in Dubai.

Bangladesh does not recognise Israel as a state and has no diplomatic relations with it.

Bangladesh has always stood for Palestine in the Palestine-Israel conflict. A couple of days ago, Bangladesh voted for the common people of Palestine in the United Nations.

In such a situation, questions have arisen whether Nur has taken a stand against the country by meeting an Israeli spy as a citizen of Bangladesh.

The uproar started in 2016 when a picture of BNP leader Aslam Chowdhury’s meeting with Mendi N Safadi abroad came to light. When a case was filed against the BNP leader, he was also arrested then.

Netizens are now raising a question whether Nur is hatching conspiracies against the country together with agents of different intelligence agencies by travelling abroad in the name of performing Umrah.

After the picture with Mendi N Safadi went viral, many people asked why he had a meeting with the anti-Muslim Israeli agent though he left the country to perform Umrah.

Sources said Nur recently went to Qatar. From there, he went to Dubai where he met a businessman who fled the country after embezzling a huge amount of money from a bank.

Then he came on Facebook Live and made provocative statements about the government, ministers, MPs and law enforcement forces.

Recently, he went to Saudi Arabia from Dubai where he performed Umrah.

In the meantime, law enforcement agencies have started investigation into the matter.

Many netizens blasted the Gana Adhikar Parishad leader for meeting the Mossad member.

They said Nur cried for the scholars and Ulema in the country on one hand and took the help of Israel to come to power on the other.

Many said the former DUCSU VP, who gave an extreme communal speech, talked about religion only for publicity.

In 2016, the then Joint Secretary General of BNP Aslam Chowdhury met Mendi N Safadi abroad. At the end of the meeting, when the photo of the two was leaked, there was uproar across the country.

At one point, Aslam was barred from leaving the country and later arrested.

At that time, police said Aslam had the meeting with the Israeli leader to plot the overthrow of the government.
