Mesbah re-elected Officers Club general secretary


Ministry of Youth and Sports former secretary Mesbah Uddin has been re-elected general secretary of Officers Club, Dhaka (OCD) for the third constitutive term.

OCD is an apex platform of officers working at government, semi-government or autonomous bodies in Dhaka.

Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain is designated as chairman of the Officers Club based on his position. Other executive members are elected in direct voting of the members of the prestigious organisation, according to a press release.

Some 60 officers contested against 22 executive positions of the Officers Club, Dhaka.

In the election for the 2024-25 session, Mesbah Uddin secured 2,572 votes while his closest contestant Health Secretary Jahangir Alam registered 1,658 votes.

Other office bearers are Vice Chairman Khalid Mahmood, Khondaker Mostan Hossain and Prof Ferdousi Khan, Treasurer Mustakim Billah Faruqui, joint secretaries Tania Khan, Monilal Aich Litu and Akhtaruzzaman.

Executive members are- Jasim Uddin, Jashim Uddin Haider, Dr Syed Firoz Alamgir, Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Alamgir Hossain, Jakerul Abedin, Delwar Hossain, Dr Ratna Paul, Asma Sultana, Mir Manzurur Rahman, Abdul Mannan Ilias, MA Majid, ASM Mamunur Rahman Khalili and Dr Nashid Rizwana Monir.

Newly elected general secretary Mesbah Uddin has shown his leadership excellence in improving the organizational capacity of the Officer's Club, Dhaka over the years. The organisation had a debit worth Tk4 crore when Mesbah took charge.

But, as per the prudent action plan, Officers Club Dhaka has become debt-free today. Moreover, the club has a fund of Tk7 crore. Mesbah also took measures to pay the municipal taxes for the first time in the history of the Club, according to sources.
