Fire breaks out at Ctg sugar mill

A devastating fire broke out at S Alam Sugar Mill at Moijjartek in the port city on Monday afternoon.

Fire Service and Civil Defence Chattogram Assistant Director Md Abdul Malek said the fire erupted on the third floor of the mill of S Alam Group located on the other bank of the Karnaphuli River around 4pm.

Several firefighting units from different fire stations rushed to the spot and were trying to extinguish the blaze, he said.

The cause behind the fire could not be ascertained immediately, he added.
