For humanitarian activities in EgyptMuhammad Raj receives int’l award


Muhammad Raj; director of Hafezzi Charitable Society of Bangladesh, a human rights activist has received an international award for his special contribution to the service of humanity in the international arena across the borders of the country.

The Ambassador of Bangladesh Embassy in Cairo, Egypt Sabina Naz handed over the special charity award from World One Ummah Foundation to Muhammad Raj at the Abbasiya Burj Al-Tatbikin Conference Hall in Egypt.

Barrister Hasan Mahmud, an international lawyer from England and other human rights activists were present at the event, according to a press release on Tuesday.

Once, Raj and a six-member delegation of the HCSB met the Palestinian Ambassador in Cairo, Diab Allours as part of their plan to visit Egypt to carry out humanitarian activities for the welfare of the underprivileged and helpless groups. This meeting with the Ambassador was held for about three hours.

In the meeting, they expressed sympathy for the oppressed people of Palestine on behalf of Hafezzi Charitable Society, one of the service organizations of Bangladesh.

The ambassador said that after the war started in October 2023, 120,000 Palestinians took shelter in Egypt as refugees.

Raz expressed his desires to stay with these humanitarian workers with all kinds of support in their service activities in Egypt.

On behalf of his organisation, Raj donated Tk 1 crore to support people who were injured and displaced during the war, both in Gaza, Palestine and Cairo, Egypt, for their healthcare, food, education, and other needs.

He added that, with the help of refugees in Egypt, they provided cooking supplies, tents and water in various provinces of Gaza, along with sewing machines, cash, food, milk and clothes.

He said that during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Bangladesh, the HCSB made a significant contribution, spending over Tk 25 lakh to provide food and treatment support to those who sustained injuries in the movement.
