BB to set up Tk25cr fund for uprising victims

The Bangladesh Bank will soon set up a Tk25 crore fund for providing financial assistance to the families of July Martyrs and those injured in the anti-fascist uprising, it was decided at a central bank meeting on Tuesday.

Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur chaired the meeting, confirmed its Executive Director and Spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan.

The central bank would provide Tk14 crore for the fund, and the rest of Tk11 crore would come from 11 high-ranking commercial banks, said Arif Hossain Khan.

Each of the commercial banks would contribute with Tk1 crore, and the boards of these banks would take the final decision on disbursal.

The total fund would be handed over to the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation.
