Elected govt to decide on new pay structure for public employees: FA

The next government would make decisions about adopting a new pay structure for public employees, said Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed on Sunday.

It is worth noting that on 27 July, amid more than two years of elevated inflation, the interim government formed an independent Pay Commission to recommend revisions to the current pay scale, effective since 2015.

However, the interim government will not discuss the recommendations finalised by the Commission, and leave these for the elected government to consider and act on, Dr Salehuddin Ahmed said at a press briefing at the Secretariat.

He also noted that consumer prices have eased somewhat recently, although non-food inflation, including transportation cost and house rent, has risen.

Repeated imports of essential food items and agricultural inputs like fertilisers have helped stabilise the food inflation, the adviser told reporters.
