Govt issues gazette declaring three-day holiday for election


Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum, the government has declared public holidays nationwide on 11 and 12 February under election-time executive orders.

In addition, a special holiday has been announced on 10 February for workers and employees in industrial zones.

The Ministry of Public Administration has issued a gazette notification in this regard on Sunday (25 January).

According to the notification, following a decision of the Advisory Council, public holidays under election-time executive orders have been declared across the country on 11 and 12 February, to facilitate voting and election activities for officers and employees of government, semi-government, autonomous and private offices, institutions and organisations, as well as teachers, officers and staff of government and private educational institutions.

A special holiday has also been declared on Tuesday, 10 February, for workers and employees in industrial areas, the notification said.

The 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum will be held on 12 February from 7:30am to 4:30pm without any break.
