Eight people died within 24 hours due to flu and symptoms

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported on Thursday, April 16, 2026, that eight more children have died from measles or measles-like symptoms within the last 24 hours.

Among them, two deaths were laboratory-confirmed cases of measles, while the remaining six exhibited clear symptoms. Since March 15, the death toll has reached 34 confirmed cases and 172 symptomatic cases, totaling 206 deaths in just one month. During the same 24-hour period, 92 new confirmed cases and 1,191 suspected cases were recorded, highlighting the continued severity of the outbreak despite ongoing vaccination efforts.
