DSCC warns waste contractors of license cancellation if bills exceed Tk100
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Monday warned the waste collection contractors of license cancellation if they charge a single household more than Tk100, the legally fixed rate, or fail to collect garbage on a daily basis.
DSCC Administrator Md Abdus Salam issued the warning on Monday at a meeting with Primary Waste Collection Service Providers (PCSPs) at the Nagar Bhaban auditorium in the capital.
Referring to city residents’ complaints, he stated that charging more than the fixed amount and failing to collect garbage every day will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He added that all payments must be collected through official receipts, and any proven complaint of overcharging would trigger immediate administrative action.
The meeting also laid out strict measures ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, when large volumes of sacrificial animal waste are expected to strain the city's waste management network.
The DSCC chief said no sanitation worker or official would be allowed to take leave during the three days of Eid al-Azha and that workers must remain in the field until waste is fully cleared from every ward.
PCSP contractors were directed to be physically present at their respective sites to supervise operations and ensure adequate vehicles and manpower throughout the period.
The directive also warns residents against waste dumping in streets or canals, noting that mobile courts will take actions against households caught doing so. It also instructed workers to maintain courteous behaviour with residents while carrying out duties.
