Sheikh Hasina and Modi will inaugurate 500 megawatts of power supply today


As part of the cooperation of electricity and energy sector between India and Bangladesh, today Bangladesh is getting more than 500 MW electricity from the national grid.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the electricity supply from the Baharampur Grid in West Bengal's Bheramara Inter-Electric Connected Grid, connecting the Ganobhaban and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the video conference on the afternoon of Delhi.
On this occasion, the two Prime Ministers will formally inaugurate the newly built 500 MW HVDC back-to-back station second block in Wadamara.
Besides, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and India will formally inaugurate the construction work of Bangladesh part of Akhaura-Agartala Dual Gauge Rail Line through video conferencing.
On the same occasion, the two Prime Minister will inaugurate the construction work of Kulaura-Shahbazpur rail link rehabilitation project of Moulvibazar district through video conferencing.
According to the sources, 300 megawatt of new 500 megawatt of electricity will come from India's official sector 'National Thermal Power Plant'. 200 MW will come from the private sector 'Power Trading Corporation'.
According to official sources, currently the amount of electricity imported from India is connected to 500 MW of 500 MW from Baharampur in West Bengal to Bheramara in Kushtia. Apart from this, 160 MW of electricity has been added to the power grid from Tripura State in Comilla.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of the opening of the work of the Bangladesh section of the Akhaura-Agartala Railway Project, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold a good rally speech at Akhaura Railway Station through video conferencing.
About 51 kilometer long Kulaura-Shahbazpur rail link rehabilitation project will cost Tk 544.77 million.
Under the project, construction and renovation of railway bridges, bridges and station buildings, platforms, railway lines and other railway infrastructure will be done on Kulaura-Shahbazpur railway track.
Akhaura-Agartala railway construction project and Kulaura-Shahbajpur railway rehabilitation project cost is being financed by part of India's one billion dollar line of credit.
