Police arrest Islamic University student with heroin worth Tk 5.0 million
A team of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) of police have arrested a university student along with 500 grams of heroin from Katakhali municipal area of Rajshahi district.
Ali Aslam Hossain, Deputy Director of Rajshahi DNC, informed that they were tipped off that Minarul Islam, 25, a third-year student of Department of History at the Islamic University, Kushtia was heading to Dhaka with the heroin.
The heroin consignment was seized on Tuesday by setting up a check post at Katakhali area to stop the bus on which the student was traveling in the afternoon, reports UNB.
At this time, Mineral, a passenger on a Dhaka-bound coach from Rajshahi, was searched and a packet of 500 grams of heroin with a street value of Tk 50 lakh was found inside his trouser.
Ali Aslam Hossain, Deputy Director of Rajshahi DNC, also informed that Minarul, son of Lokman Ali, hails from the Hakimpur area of Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila.
“On interrogation, Minarul informed that he was going to Dhaka to deliver the heroin there in exchange of Tk 50,000. Earlier too, he had gone to Dhaka twice with consignments of heroin,”
The DNC official also said that Minarul was handed over to police after filing a case against him with Katakhali thana under the Narcotics Control Act.
