IEDCR confirms one more coronavirus case


One more person has been diagnosed with COVID-19 disease in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 49, said the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) on Monday.

Besides, four patients have recovered and returned home during this period. With this, a total of 19 people have made recovery from the coronavirus disease.

IEDCR Director Prof Meerjady Sabrina Flora revealed the latest coronavirus figures at an online press briefing this afternoon.

 

"In the past 24 hours IEDCR has tested 153 samples and so far 1338 people have been tested. Total 49 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus. So in the past 24 hours one more person has been infected. However, four former patients have made recovery," she said.

Three of the four recovered are aged above 60 while the newly infected patient is a female aged around 20, news agency UNB reported quoting the IEDCR Director.

Meanwhile, thirty six people have been released from the institutional quarantine in the past 24 hours and 32 are still quarantined. 62 people are in isolation.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque also joined the briefing and answered questions from the media.
