NY governor recalls Bangabandhu’s UNGA speech with regard

New York governor Andrew M Cuomo has recalled with high regard the historic speech delivered by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

He sent greetings to all of the dignitaries, guests and community members participating in a virtual celebration of Bangladeshi Immigrant Day and Book Fair hosted by the Muktadhra Foundation on September 18.

In a message, he said individuals with heritage traceable to the nation of Bangladesh excel in various areas of endeavour and contribute to the society in many ways throughout New York.

The event was a unique opportunity for Bangladeshi community members to be proud of historic speech delivered by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to the UNGA on September 25, 1974.

The governor termed the occasion to be significant for the Bengali nation.

“I applaud everyone who shares in this opportunity to honor your history and strengthen your ancestral ties among people today and future generations.”
