Hefajat emerging as neo-Razakar by opposing Bangabandhu’s statue: Joy

ICT Advisor to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy said that by opposing Bangabandhu’s statue, Hifazat-e Islam is playing the role the Jamaat-e-Islami did during the 1971 Liberation War.

Joy, the son of PM Sheikh Hasina, made the comment on Saturday while addressing a webinar organised marking the fourth Digital Bangladesh Day.

Issuing a warning, he said there is a group that has raised its head in a bid to take the country backwards. They are threatening to transform Bangladesh into Afghanistan.

“What do we call them? We call them Razakar. There was the Jamaat in 1971, and now Hefazat is becoming the new Razakar,” Joy said.

Joy also described the achievements of Awami League government in Digital Bangladesh’s initiative in the 12 years.
