EC finalises names of 344 upazilas for election

The Election Commission (EC) has finalised the names of 344 upazilas for the upcoming elections, which will be conducted in four phases beginning on 4 May.

EC Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam on Tuesday said that the commission has decided to conduct the upazila elections across the country in four phases, scheduled for May 4th, May 11th, May 18th, and May 25th.

Meanwhile, the election management wing of the EC has already finalised the names of 344 upazilas for holding the elections in phases.

According to the list of the EC for the regions of Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, Dhaka, and Mymensingh, the elections will be conducted in 108 upazilas in the first phase, 121 upazilas in the second phase, 77 upazilas in the third phase and 38 upazilas in the fourth phase.

However, the EC will release the list of upazilas for the Sylhet and Chattogram regions later.
