BNP to secure 39pc vote, Jamaat 21pc, NCP 16pc in next JS polls: Survey

The country’s young generation believes that BNP will secure 39% of votes, Jamaat 21% and NCP 16% in the next general election, South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (SANEM), unveiled the findings on Monday.

SANEM, a non-profit research organisation, published the report ahead of the 13th parliamentary election, likely to be held a week before Ramadan in February next year.

The report was based on the opinions of 2,000 individuals aged between 15 and 35 years, collected from all divisions across the country.

In the survey, BNP secured the top position with 39 percent of votes, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami second while the newly introduced National Citizen Party secured the third position, according to the survey report.

As part of the methodology of the survey, SANEM first selected two districts from each of the eight divisions and conducted the survey among the participants whose educational qualifications was 40 percent below SSC and 60 percent SSC or above.

And of these, 50 percent were from cities and 50 percent from villages, said the report.

The report showed that Jatiya Party will bag 3.77 percent of the votes while other religious political parties will get 4.59 percent of votes in the election.

Besides, Awami League, if it is given the chance to take part in the election, will get 15.02 percent of the votes in the election, it said.

The report was published at a time when the government, based on an understanding with BNP, is going to hold the national election before Ramadan next year, while Jamaat and NCP are backpedalling to delay the election in the pretext of the trial of those who went on a killing spree during the July mass upsurge.
