Tuku is a eligible BNP candidate for Tangail-5

BNP Central Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku was a victim of oppression, torture and imprisonment under the Awami regime. He faced 350 false cases and served 12 prison terms during the 15-and-a-half-year rule of the Awami government. 5 years of Tuku's life were lost due to the fascist government's misdeeds. Tuku's wife Saima Parveen Simmi has been deprived of justice despite going to and fro in the administration. She has spent sleepless nights with her children and relatives. Even though the sky and air became heavy with the cries of her family, Hasina's administration machine did not respond. There were several attempts to kill Tuku outside and inside the prison.

Tuku's elder brother, former MP Advocate Abdus Salam Pintu, was in prison for almost 17 years without any charges. All the other brothers in the family were framed in cases related to militancy. The fallen government has used various fabrications, lies and torture to remove this family from politics. The village trembles when it hears about the sensitive tortures inflicted on the Tuku family. Still, Salam Pintu-Tuku has maintained the ideals of martyred President Ziaur Rahman. He has been spending almost all his life for the party, abandoning the illusion of his family.

BNP Central Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku has been beaten with police batons countless times on the streets to bloodshed while resisting the injustices and injustices of the Hasina government. During the protest on the streets, Hasina's police force broke the glass of the car and dragged Tuku out in a bloody state, blindfolded him and brutally beat him on Mintu Road. This imprisoned and tortured leader of the BNP has made the most headlines in the media.

BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia often praised Tuku's courage, strength, talent, patience and organizational skills. After evaluating Tuku, Tarique Rahman gave him the responsibility of BNP's publicity secretary in 2024. Due to Tuku's political and moral behavior, Begum Khaleda Zia was very trustworthy. Sultan Salahuddin Tuku was one of the field leaders during BNP's difficult times.

Sultan Salahuddin Tuku is a popular leader among the neglected people of Tangail-5 (Sadar) constituency. Tuku's tireless work and efforts have received a huge response from the grassroots leaders and activists and the common people. Meanwhile, the high command including BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has been informed about Tuku's popularity in Tangail-5 constituency. Tuku's overall efforts in the fragile politics of Tangail have given a glimpse of a beautiful situation among the people and leaders and activists of all walks of life.

However, some local top leaders are disappointed by Tuku's political constructive activities. All these leaders are engaged in harming the party in order to achieve personal interests. The party high command has already come to know about their lies and conspiracies through various means including the media. BNP's national leader Sultan Salahuddin Tuku is facing everything with talent, strategy and patience and moving forward. He is thwarting one conspiracy after another in the interests of the party and its leaders and activists. On the other hand, the popularity of those who have resorted to false propaganda and slander has collapsed. They are gradually falling out of favor with the party leaders and activists.

According to locals, one of the reasons why Sultan Salahuddin Tuku is so popular and acceptable to voters is that he has been able to do various developmental works without becoming an MP. He has especially taken initiatives for the development of the vast char area of Sadar Upazila. Already, through Tuku's sincere efforts and lobbying, development works worth several crores of taka are on the way to start. His humble behavior has received appreciation as well as acceptance from the people of Tangail Sadar.

Awami League misrule and torture in Tangail for the last 15 and a half years: The fascist Awami League's torture that is going on across the country regardless of party affiliation, Tangail was no exception. Cases, killings, disappearances and seizure of land and business establishments against people with dissenting views, including BNP-Jamaat, were almost daily occurrences. The horrific picture of the Awami League government's torture and oppression cannot be ended by saying that it is. The torture is going on in the same way from the district town to the grassroots level.

In 15 and a half years, at least nine thousand leaders and activists were accused in 281 cases against BNP and Jamaat leaders and activists. A special plan was taken to eliminate BNP from Tangail. As part of this, Awami terrorists brutally hacked and shot half a dozen leaders and activists to death. There is no account of how many leaders and activists were left disabled. BNP leaders and activists' businesses were taken over. Many escaped certain death and fled the country. Awami leaders and activists received firearm licenses en masse in Tangail. Nine students of Tangail were killed in the July uprising by the fascist Hasina's police. Two hundred and seventy people were injured in Tangail during the student-public movement. Most of them were students of various schools and colleges. Sultan Salauddin Tuku handled everything and put BNP in a strong position.

Currently, Tuku has become a direct enemy of the top BNP leaders who are sheltering Awami League allies. Trinamool leaders and activists have claimed that there is no alternative to Tuku in BNP politics in Tangail.

Torture and oppression against the Salam Pintu-Tuku family

An honest, decent and simple leader of Tangail, Tuku's elder brother, Advocate Abdus Salam Pintu, is the founding general secretary of the district BNP. He was framed in the August 21 grenade attack case. It was part of the Hasina government's plan to eliminate BNP from Tangail. Abdus Salam Pintu's two brothers, Maulana Tajuddin and Ratul Babu, were also accused in the August 21 grenade murder case. Hasina's court sentenced Salam Pintu and Maulana Tajuddin to death and Ratul Babu to life imprisonment. Abdus Salam Pintu was imprisoned for 17 years in this case. When Sheikh Hasina fell on August 5, Abdus Salam Pintu was released on December 24, 2024. His two brothers had been absconding for the past 17 years.

Another brother of Salam Pintu and former district BNP president, agriculturist Shamsul Alam Tofa, was forced to leave the country after being accused in multiple cases. He is currently residing in Canada.

Abdus Salam Pintu's other brother, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, the BNP's publicity secretary and former president of the Central Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal, was subjected to inhuman torture. Tuku was accused in 350 cases during Hasina's 15 and a half years. He was arrested 12 times and served 5 years in prison. Tuku was subjected to inhuman torture in the name of remand.

Abdus Salam Pintu said, "I could not imagine sitting in prison and talking to the people of Tangail, holding meetings. I was taken on remand 24 times. I was tortured, and blood was coming out of my mouth, my stool, and my urine. But there was no escape from the torture."

Sultan Salauddin Tuku said, "The fascist Awami League targeted our family. Their main goal was to destroy BNP. But we did not give in to that. We carried the nationalist flag by embracing certain death. Now we are working to improve the fate of the people of Tangail Sadar Upazila. If people from all walks of life give us an opportunity and God has mercy, we will try to change Tangail."

Tuku's popularity and the touch of development in Sadar

Sultan Salahuddin Tuku has become a candidate for Tangail - 5 (Sadar) constituency. He is working day and night to present himself to the common people. As a result, Tuku is already a popular name among the people of the constituency. Sultan Salahuddin Tuku's personal initiative and lobbying have started to have a positive impact on the development of roads, educational institutions and mosques and temples, especially in the vast char area.

The Dhaleshwari River flows through Bahuli and Makorkol in Mahmud Nagar Union. Although the river is full of water during the rainy season, there is 1/2 foot of water at the bottom of the river during the dry season. Sand accumulates in most parts. Most people cross the river to Tangail Sadar every day in engine-powered rowboats. During the dry season, 2,500 to 3,000 people cross the river in horse-drawn carriages, auto-rickshaws and on foot. Major General Hasan Mahmud, when the BNP was in power, had built a paved road from Tangail Sadar to the banks of the Dhaleshwari River. But he could not build the bridge. Therefore, the people of the western bank of Tangail and Chauhali Upazila are demanding the construction of an RCC bridge on the Dhaleshwari River. A clearance certificate for this bridge of about 700 meters has already been sent from BIWTA to LGED. And behind this is the tireless efforts of Sultan Salauddin Tuku.

The people of the Char area said that after Major General Mahmudul Hasan, they are placing their trust in BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku. He has already stood by the people of the Char area in various ways. On his recommendation, 8 road works have been approved, which we the people of the Char area have come to know that will be completed before the elections. He has also extended his support to many social activities including mosques and madrasas. We the people of the Char area want to see Sultan Salahuddin Tuku as an MP. The people of Tangail have expressed their hope that if he becomes an MP, he will also become a minister.

Social media propaganda against Tuku

The other party nomination hopefuls are distraught, jealous of Tuku's popularity. One after another, they have started spreading misinformation and slander through social media. Tuku has filed several general diaries with Tangail Model Police Station in this regard.

Recently, an unidentified woman was recorded and circulated on social media, posing as a plaintiff in a murder case. The activists claim that Sultan Salahuddin Tuku has been repeatedly used by vested interests to spread misinformation and slander on social media in the past. He is working in the field, hoping for the party's nomination from the Tangail-5 Sadar constituency in the national elections. Tuku has filed a general diary in this regard at the Tangail Sadar Police Station.

It is learned that recently at around 3 am, Akur was staying at his house in Takur Para of the city. At that time, an audio message came on his WhatsApp app. It shows that the alleged plaintiff of the murder of Jasim, a journalist of the Daily Bangla Times, was purposefully interrogated and an audio was recorded by extracting false information against Tuku. Later, it was released on social media. This was done with the aim of humiliating him politically and socially. Sultan Salauddin Tuku mentioned in his general diary that regular cases will be filed in this matter based on information in the future. Journalist Mohabbat Hossain, Tangail correspondent of Daily Amar Desh and NTV, was also implicated in this incident. He also filed a general diary at the police station in this conspiratorial incident.

Meanwhile, three years have passed since the conference for the term of the district BNP committee. The full committee has not been formed yet. There has been no district office for 18 years. The district BNP president and general secretary are running the BNP. As a result, the Tangail district BNP is running its activities under two leaders. The term of the district committee has expired. This situation has created extreme frustration and anger among the leaders and activists. They have demanded that the committee be dissolved as soon as possible and a new committee be formed through the conference.

Trinamool leaders and activists complain that the district BNP has been running without an office for the past 18 years. After August 5, the leaders and activists hoped that the district president and general secretary would re-establish an office for the district BNP. But that did not happen in reality.

Party sources said that the biennial conference of Tangail District BNP was held on November 1, 2022. Hasanuzzammil Shaheen was elected president and Advocate Farhad Iqbal general secretary by direct vote of the councilors. A central leader made two leaders of his choice as president and general secretary with the help of unilaterally created councilors. As a result, BNP has reached the brink of destruction here.

The question has been raised in the public mind that those who have not been able to form a BNP district committee for three years are desperate to get nominated for the MP post. Tangail district BNP leaders and activists have complained that the matter is shameful and ridiculous.
