The opposition leader wants a discussion in parliament on 133 ordinances

On Sunday, April 5, 2026, the Leader of the Opposition and Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, called for a detailed parliamentary debate regarding 133 ordinances.

He argued that several ordinances currently proposed to be lapsed are critically linked to the "July Spirit" and the protection of public rights.

While Law Minister initially suggested the new bills were separate from these ordinances, he later corrected his statement after the Asr prayer break, confirming they were indeed part of the 133.

The Law Minister assured the House that every ordinance would be presented in Parliament, providing ample opportunity for discussion during the first and second readings.

Speaker noted that approximately 93 bills are scheduled for passage by April 9, during which the members' observations will be considered.
