Bangladesh records five more coronavirus deaths.418 new cases.

The number of Confirmed coronavirus patients in Bangladesh surged to 5,416 on Sunday as the country registered 418 fresh cases in the last 24 hours.

Besides, five more people died from COVID-19 during the period. Among the dead, three were male and two were female.

With the latest, the death toll from the lethal disease now stands at 145.

Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana disclosed the information while briefing the media live on the daily health bulletin at 2:30pm.

Prof Nasima said, in the last 24 hours, 3,476 samples of people were tested across the country.

Also, nine more patients have recovered from the disease during the period under review, taking the total number of recoveries to 122.

Coronavirus, first reported in China, has so far infected 2,923,119 people globally and killed 203,307 of them, according to worldometer.info, a website that provides real-time updates.

Of the infected, 1,882,489 are currently being treated while 57,875 of them are in serious or critical condition, the website data shows.

As the virus began sweeping across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.

The deadly viral disease has so far infected a total of 210 countries and territories and two international cruise ships around the world.
