Covid-19 death toll rises, new cases fallBD reports 41 more deaths, 1,827 new cases


Bangladesh confirmed 41 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours till 8am on Wednesday.

The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 4,593, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the last 24 hours, 1,827 people tested positive for Covid-19 and the number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 3,31,078.

"Of the dead patients, 29 were men and 12 were women. Moreover, 17 of them hailed from Dhaka, 6 from Chattogram, 4 from Khulna, one each from Barishal and Mymensingh, 5 each from Rangpur and Rajshahi and two from Sylhet.

36 among the dead persons have died in different hospitals while three died at home, says the press release.

Around 69.71 percent of novel coronavirus patients – both symptomatic and asymptomatic – have recovered in Bangladesh so far, while 1.39 percent have died.

The latest day's infection rate is 12.38 percent of the total tests.

A total of 2,995 patients were declared free of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours and the total number of recoveries reached 2,30,804. 

Some 14,792 samples were collected in the last 24 hours and 14,755 were tested in 94 labs across the country. So far 16,74,452 samples have been tested.

The virus has killed 8,91,031 people globally and infected 2,72,36,916 so far.
