PM asks all to work in coordinated manner to face Fani


Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, now in London, has directed all the government and non-government organisations to work in a coordinated manner to face the severe cyclonic storm "Fani".

She also directed the authorities concerned to bring the people of costal districts to safer places before the devastating cyclone hits the region.

A press release issued by the Prime Minister's Office on Friday said Sheikh Hasina is monitoring the overall situation round the clock

She also urged the people of the country to remain ready to face the aftermath of the possible disasters by the cyclone.

 The release said Sheikh Hasina has already directed the army, navy and the air force as well as all the law enforcement agencies, including the police and coastguards, to stay ready to face the disaster.

All these forces and organisations have already begun their works to face the situation, the release added.

It said the Prime Minister has been maintaining close contact with the authorities concerned, including senior officials of her office, to this end.

 As per directive of the Prime Minister, the release said, the people of the coastal regions have already been taken to the nearest cyclone shelter centres and schools and colleges.

 It added that necessary preparations have been taken as per directive of the Prime Minister to face the disaster.

 As per her directives, preparedness to face possible loss of lives and property have already been completed, while the forces concerned have also taken necessary preparations to this end.

Prime Minister's Principal Secretary M Nojibur Rahman also directed the district administrations of the coastal regions through videoconferencing on Thursday to take necessary preparations to face the cyclone.

Meanwhile, the press release said, the Prime Minister's Office was kept open today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) cancelling the weekly holidays, while close contacts are being maintained with the coastal districts.
