BSEC seeks DSE’s clarification on staff promotion controversy
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has sought clarification from the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) over a controversy regarding the promotion of its 95 officials.
Explanation was also sought over cancellation of promotion of 18 and double promotion of eight.
The DSE has been asked to reply within a week. At the same time, the BSEC has asked the DSE to explain what is in its human resource policy.
According to a BSEC official, a verbal explanation about the promotion and cancellation was given by the DSE in a meeting on Thursday (November 10).
However, the BSEC has asked them to give a written explanation within a week. In that meeting, BSEC was led by Commissioner Dr. Sheikh Shamsuddin Ahmed.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of DSE under the leadership of Acting Managing Director Saifur Rahman Majumdar.
It is to be noted that the recently resigned Managing Director Tarique Amin Bhuiyan promoted 95 officials at once to bring back the work enthusiasm among DSE officials.
But many of the board of directors of DSE were angry with the MD’s decision. He resigned when aggrieved directors of DSE treated him discourteously.
