Biman cancels flights with Kolkata, Delhi

Biman Bangladesh Airlines today cancelled all its flights with Kolkata and Delhi hours after the Indian government suspended all tourist visas and e-visas for travelers till April 15.

The flights cancellation would come into effect from March 14, said Md Mokabbir Hossain, managing director and chief executive officer of the national carrier.  

US-Bangla Airlines, a private Bangladeshi airline, also cancelled its flights on the Kolkata-Chennai route from March 17.

India on March 11 suspended most visas including visa-free travel facility extended to Indian-origin foreigners in a bid to contain the spread of the new coronavirus in the country.

All visas except those issued to diplomatic, official, international organisations, employment and project visas were being suspended from March 13 to April 15 at the port of departure.
