Tourists not allowed in Cox’s Bazar Sea Beach

District administration of Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday imposed a ban on people’s gathering at Sea Beach to prevent the further spread of coronavirus in the country.

Hotel and motel owners also directed to discourage local and foreign tourists to visit Cox’s Bazar Sea Beach.

According to local sources, tourist police and several mobile courts had conducted drives and forced many tourists back to their hotel room from the beach this afternoon.

Md Kamal Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar, told reporters that restriction on people gathering at Sea beach has been enforcing from Wednesday afternoon. In this regard, several mobile courts were activated in the beach area.

Meanwhile, Fakhrul Islam, Assistant Superintendent of Police of Cox's Bazar Tourist Police, told newsmen that tourist police is carrying out campaign among visiting domestic and foreign tourists asking them not to gather or hold any programme at the beach.

The Sea beach will be evacuated before this evening, said ASP Fakhrul Islam adding that tourists’ evacuation from hotels and motels will be started from Thursday morning. At the same time, no one will be allowed to gather in the beach area.

According to hotel owners, On Wednesday, about three thousand tourists were staying in Cox’s Bazar. Among them, one thousand tourists were visiting Coral Island St. Martin.
