ACC sues UP Chairman, secretary in Narail

More 7 UP chairmen, 3 members suspended

The Anti-Corruption Commission(ACC)  filed a case against a union parishad chairman and secretary in Noragati upazila for embezzling government rice meant for poor.

The accused are UP Chairman Md Alauddin Chowdhury, of  ward No 7 of Joynagar union parishad and Sheih Md Mohidul Islam, secretary of the union parishad.

Assistant director of ACC Jashore district office Mahfuz Iqbal filed the case on Wednesday.

According to the case,  chairman Alauddin embezzled  280 kgs of rice allocated for poor under  the social safety net programme of the government amidst coronavirus outbreak.

Earlier, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) has suspendered more seven Union Parishad Chairmen and three members temporarily for alleged irregularities in distributing relief materials.

The decision was taken on Thursday.
