Verdict in graft case against SK Sur on 28 July

Judge Ayesha Nasrin of the Dhaka Special Judge's Court-2 fixed the date after the completion of the closing arguments

A Dhaka court on Wednesday fixed 28 July for delivering the verdict in a graft case filed against former Bangladesh Bank deputy governor Shitangshu Kumar Sur Chowdhury, widely known as SK Sur.

Judge Ayesha Nasrin of the Dhaka Special Judge's Court-2 fixed the date after the completion of the closing arguments, bench assistant Md Dewan Ashik said.

On 23 December 2024, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Nazmul Hossain filed the case under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004, accusing SK Sur of failing to submit his wealth statement.

ACC Deputy Director Md Ahsan Uddin submitted the charge sheet against the accused on 4 August 2025.

On 6 November 2025, the court framed charges against the accused, ordered the trial to begin, and recorded the testimonies of all seven prosecution witnesses.

SK Sur was arrested in the capital's Segunbagicha area on 14 January 2025 and has remained in jail since then.
