Process of dismissing 26 police personnel underway: DMP Commissioner

All unit chiefs of police have the authority to perform dope tests on any policeman who behaves like a drug addict or has specific allegations against them

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam on Saturday said a total of 26 police personnel have been tested positive in drug tests.

"We have carried out dope tests on suspected police members. A total of 26 were found to be positive among them. The process of dismissing them has started," he said while inaugurating the office of the newly formed Mirpur Traffic Division.

Drug tests were mandatory in the police recruitment process last year, said police officials.
