85 public representatives face suspension so far

28 UP chairmen, 51 UP members, a zila parishad member, four municipality councilors and one upazila vice-chairman were suspended until Tuesday

A total of 85 public representatives were suspended temporarily so far their alleged irregularities in cash aid disbursement and relief distribution for destitute people since detection of the country’s first coronavirus case.

According to media, 28 UP chairmen, 51 UP members, a zila parishad member, four municipality councilors and one upazila vice-chairman were suspended until Tuesday.

The government temporarily suspended 11 public representatives over relief scam on Tuesday.

Local Government Division (LGD) issued separate notifications on Tuesday suspending four union parishad (UP) chairmen, six UP members and a municipality councilor.
