100 teachers to receive national honour this year

The information was disclosed by Prime Minister’s Education Adviser Dr Mahdi Amin at a meeting of the national steering committee for World Teachers’ Day celebrations

The scope of the national honour for distinguished teachers is being expanded, with 100 teachers from different levels of education set to receive recognition this year, compared with 12 in previous years.

The selected teachers will be honoured at a programme on 5 October marking World Teachers’ Day.

The information was disclosed by Prime Minister’s Education Adviser Dr Mahdi Amin at a meeting of the national steering committee for World Teachers’ Day celebrations at the Education Ministry’s conference room on Monday (28 September).

“Nationally, 12 teachers have long been honoured as distinguished teachers. For the first time this year, the number is being increased to 100,” he said.

He said teachers from primary to university levels would be brought under the recognition programme.

Besides primary school teachers, teachers from general, technical and madrasa streams at the secondary level will also be considered for the honour.

Teachers from colleges and universities will also be included, while university-level selections will cover specialised fields including medicine, agriculture, engineering and science.
