Government Continues Working to Improve People's Living Standards: State Minister Tuku

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock and Member of Parliament for Tangail Sadar constituency, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, said that infrastructural development activities are being implemented in different regions of the country as part of the development programs announced by the Prime Minister. The goal of the current government is to ensure safe and pure water supply for every citizen in urban and municipal areas.
He made these remarks as the chief guest while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the construction work of an overhead water reservoir being implemented under the Water Supply System Expansion and Improvement Project in the Eidgah Field adjacent area of Ward No. 6 of Tangail Municipality at 11:00 am on Friday (June 19).
The State Minister said that the government is working tirelessly to improve the living standards of the people. Such development projects will not only ensure public services but will also further expand civic amenities.
He further said that once the construction of overhead water tanks in Ward No. 6 of Tangail Municipality and the Ashakpur Bypass area is completed, local residents will receive safe and pure water supply facilities, which will play an important role in improving public health.
Sultan Salahuddin Tuku said, “I have started activities in accordance with the commitment I made to develop and modernize Tangail. I myself will not commit any wrongdoing, nor will I tolerate any wrongdoing.”
Earlier, the State Minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of another overhead water tank in the Ashakpur Bypass area under Tangail Municipality to ensure the supply of safe and pure water.
According to relevant sources, various development activities are being implemented under the Water Supply System Expansion and Improvement Project of Tangail Municipality in addition to the existing water supply system. These include the construction of two underground water treatment plants (each having a water treatment capacity of 350 cubic meters per hour) and two overhead reservoirs with a capacity of 680 cubic meters each.
Under the project, the total work order value for the construction of the water treatment plants is Tk 19 crore 1 lakh 36 thousand 794, and the total work order value for the construction of the overhead reservoirs is Tk 6 crore 49 lakh 30 thousand 311.
After the implementation of the project, safe water will be supplied to Wards No. 4, 5, 6, 15, 16, and 17 of the municipality through the installation of approximately 14 kilometers of pipeline. Already, the installation work of 9 production tube wells under the project has been completed.
Concerned officials hope that once the project is implemented, the long-standing water crisis in the Tangail municipal area will be largely resolved, and municipal residents will receive the benefits of safe and pure water.
Present at the inauguration ceremony were Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) and Administrator of Tangail Municipality Sanjay Kumar Mahanta, Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Adibul Islam, Executive Engineer Md. Raisul Islam, former Member Secretary of Tangail District BNP Mahmudul Haque Sanu, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Md. Ruhul Amin, along with political leaders, distinguished persons, and local residents.
