Journalist Kismat Khondokar passes away

He breathed his last at 7:30pm while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Aftabnagar in the capital

Senior journalist and freedom fighter Kismat Khondokar, a permanent member of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) and senior correspondent of banglanews24.com, passed away yesterday.

He was 69.

He breathed his last at 7:30pm while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Aftabnagar in the capital, family sources said.

His body will be taken to Mirzapur in Tangail on Thursday morning. After the funeral prayer there, he will be buried in the family graveyard, they said.

The DRU Executive Committee expressed deep grief and sorrow over his death.

In a condolence message, DRU President Abu Saleh Akon and General Secretary Mynul Hasan Sohel prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed their sympathies to the bereaved family.

Kismat Khondokar worked as an economics correspondent for several media outlets in Bangladesh. He was a member of the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF), the country's association of economic journalists, as well as the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).
