Rohingya repatriation is a complicated matter now a days, not very easy by any means, unless India, Russia & China is seriously involved, especially India and Russia who are the major arm supplier to the Myanmar govt. Almost 1.3 million Rohingya refugee is a huge social & economic issue to Bangladesh.

In my earlier post, I have tried to say categorically that, the issue has some how imposed on us, by international agencies, and our the than regime has swallowed this out of populism, without considering realities.

It is almost all elders in Coxsbazar district knows that, atrocities to Mayanmar Muslim by Buddhist Nationalist nothing new, it was historical. During Brithish rule, Brithish govt have had deployed Captain Coxs in Coxsbazar especially to rehabilitate Muslims who are ousted and deported from Mayanmar. Lot of families of Coxsbazar has ancestor link in Mayanmar.

But, during Pakistan & Bangladesh period, no one of our government has understood the history and tried to formulate the policy especially related to the security and boarder protection policy in east. Coxsbazar and Chittagong Hill Tracts boarder still largely open to Mayanmar. In fact our Neighbour super power don’t wanted this, like they tried all best not to have Matarbari deep sea port.

Our army chief conceded the fact that, if we could have strong air force, then we would not have Rohingya refugees. Very truth indeed. But, Mayanmar govt. did not that mistakes. Amidst internal fighting of different ethnic groups,

Myanmar govt gave highest importance to have a strong army not only to quell internal conflict, but also to drive out Rohingyas and secure their boarder. Now we are getting news that, how Myanmar military getting victory over Arkan Army. A handful no of Rohingya has joined in Mayanmar govt army.

A foreign and security policy must be based on history. Present government has to calculate the state of affairs and its development in neighboring countries. There is an international research study that, once Myanmar military was involved with yaba production to earn foreign currency. If you don’t have strong security force then you will not get a foreign policy which will yield dignity and respect for your nation.
