Two children drowned in the Pagla River at Alidanga of Shibganj municipality in Chapainawabganj on Tuesday.

Two children drowned in the Pagla River at Alidanga of Shibganj municipality in Chapainawabganj on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as 10-year old Jui, a fourth-grader and daughter of Ziaur Rahman and nine-year old Imran Ali, a first grader and son of Jubair Hossain of the area.

The incident took place at noon when the two were bathing in the river with their family members, said Shamsul Alam Shah, officer-in-charge of Shibganj Police Station.

At one stage, the minors went missing. Although others rescued them soon, they died while being taken to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex.
