The High Court has ordered Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to take necessary steps to remove all objectionable audios and videos of State Minister for Information Murad Hassan from social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube in 24 hours.
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman issued the order on a suo muto (voluntary) move on Tuesday.
The court came up with the order after Supreme Court lawyer Syed Sayedul Haque Suman prayed for necessary directives to this effect mentioning that the audio and videos which went viral on social media will have adverse impact on children and the young if those are not removed immediately.
Deputy Attorney General Bepul Bagmar has been asked to convey the court order to the BTRC and inform it after complying with the directive tomorrow.
