At least 13 vehicles were set on fire in the past 27 hours until 9am on Thursday, during the 48-hour nationwide blockade enforced by BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and like-minded parties.
Five vehicles were torched in Hazaribagh, Tantibazar, Kakoli, Dhanmondi and Mirpur areas of the capital Dhaka, three in Gazipur, one each in Khagrachhari, Bogura and Noakhali; and two in Barishal and Barguna, according to the media cell of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The vehicles included seven buses, four covered vans, and two trucks, it added.
On 6 November, BNP, and other opposition parties announced the latest blockade across the country from Wednesday morning. The ongoing blockade will end at 6am Friday.
