CID sources confirmed to reporters on Monday that the police department has arrested 17 people including two present deputy-directors and an assistant director of PSC, in connection with the leak of question papers for BCS and 30 other government job recruitment exams.
As many as six people among the arrestees are either current or former employees of Public Service Commission (PSC).
During the drive to make the arrests, CID officers also found a huge amount of evidence linking the arrestees to question paper leaks for various public service recruitment exams.
A case was set to filed against the arrestees, the CID sources claimed adding the arrests were made since Sunday night following an investigate report aired by a private news channel.
A key figure among the arrestees is Syed Abed Ali Jibon, former driver of the present PSC chairman’s car, and his son Syed Sohanur Rahman Siam.
Hailing from Dasar upazila of Madaripur, Syed Abed Ali was already a controversial figure for amassing huge amount of wealth.
He owns a number of houses in Dhaka as well as cattle farms and other properties, as per his own social media disclosures, though he claims his business earnings helped fuel his wealth.
