The government has deployed Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members in different strategic regions across the country amid the deteriorating situation over the quota reform movement.
The paramilitary forces were deployed in Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi and Bogura regions to take law and order under control, BGB public relations officers said in a text message this afternoon.
The students’ demand for reforming the quota system has intensified, leading to heightened support from nearly all higher educational institutions across the country.
Some major universities, including Dhaka, Chattogram, and Begum Rokeya, have turned into battlegrounds, with at least five students reportedly killed by police firing during the anti-quota movement.
The government also deployed a huge number of police forces across the country against the backdrop of the evolving situation.
