Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Nurun Nahar will act as the governor of the central bank.
She would carry out the duty in the absence of the governor, according to an office order signed by Financial Institutions Division Deputy Secretary Afsana Bilkis.
Nurun Nahar joined as the deputy governor on 2 July 2023. Before that, she was the most senior executive director (Grade-1) of the Bangladesh Bank.
Deputy Governor Nurun Nahar will look after the Governor's daily mail and send it to the concerned department.
On July 2, 2023, Nurun Nahar took over as Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank. Before joining the post of Deputy Governor, she was Senior Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank. She joined Bangladesh Bank as Assistant Director in 1989 and was promoted to Executive Director in 2019.
On Friday, Governor Abdur Rouf Talukder resigned from his post on personal grounds. He took charge as the 12th governor on 12 July 2022 for a four-year term.
Rouf succeeded former governor Fazle Kabir, whose tenure ended on 3 July of the same year.
