Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy has urged the people of the country to pay their tributes peacefully to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members on 15 August at Dhanmondi 32.
He alleged that conspiracy is on to erase the memory of Bangabandhu from Bangladesh.
“Let the paying tribute of your and mine is the protest of that,” he said on his verified Facebook page.
On the same page, in a video message, he mentioned that the historical house of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi 32 has been burnt down to ashes.
“I will not call them protestor, I will call them mob. They burnt down the house of the Father of the Nation,” he said.
Joy, who was the ICT adviser of Sheikh Hasina, mentioned that in the Dhanmondi house the father of the nation and his family members were brutally killed.
“Even the killers of 75 could not dare to destroy that house,” he added saying that it was a museum.
Joy who lives in Washington now said that Bangabandhu is not a partisan subject.
“He is the Father of the Nation, without him we could not become Bangladesh, we would be Pakistan today,” he said.
“My urge to the Bengali nation, if you believe in the spirit of independence, if you love Bangladesh, you will pay your respect peacefully through laying flowers at 32 number (Dhanmondi 32),” he said.
He also urged all to pray to the Almighty for Bangabandhu, spirit of the independence, and his family members.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his spouse Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, their three sons– Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal, and Sheikh Russel – and most of the family members of Bangabandhu and his three close relatives were assassinated on the fateful night of August 15, 1975 by a group of disgruntled army men.
Two daughters of Bangabandhu -- Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana -- could escape the carnage as they were abroad at that time.
