Eleven people were killed and several others injured after two separate accidents in Gaibandha’s Palashbari Upazila.
Seven people were killed after a truck overturned onto a motorcycle in the Jundaha area around 11:30am on Saturday, Palashbari Police Station Inspector Mustafizur Rahman said.
The truck was carrying rods from Bogra to Rangpur, he said, but it veered out of control in the Jundaha area and overturned onto a motorcycle.
Four, including one passenger, were killed on the spot. Three others injured in the accident died afterwards.
Four people were also killed in a separate road accident in Palashbari’s Niniyagaria area, police said.
Twelve others were injured as a bus rammed into a passenger vehicle, killing three people identified as construction workers Zakir Hossain, 25, Khasru Mia, 55 and Raju Mia, 28.
Four of the wounded were rushed to Bogra’s Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital while the rest were admitted to the Palashbari Upazila Health Complex.
The Bogra-bound bus hit punctured a tire near the Sarkar Petrol Station, causing it to veer out of control and hit the other vehicle, said Inspector Abul Basar of Gobindaganj Highway Police.
The three construction workers died on the spot, he said. The fourth died later on.
