BD, EU envoys discuss deeper bilateral cooperation

The discussions focused on the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and its European partners, growing economic ties and other issues of mutual interest

Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir on Thursday held a meeting with five European ambassadors and senior diplomats in Dhaka to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in key sectors.

The meeting took place at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon and was attended by French Ambassador Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, Spanish Ambassador Gabriel Sistiaga, British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke, European Union Chargé d'Affaires Baiba Žarina and German Chargé d'Affaires Anja Karsten.

Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury was also present.

The discussions focused on the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and its European partners, growing economic ties and other issues of mutual interest.

The participants emphasised the need to deepen cooperation in trade and investment, defence, civil aviation and other sectors of shared interest.

Humaiun Kobir expressed hope that Bangladesh's relations with European countries would be further strengthened on the basis of mutual trust and shared interests.

The European diplomats, in turn, reaffirmed their commitment to expanding their countries' multifaceted partnerships with Bangladesh.
