SSC results on 20 July: Minister

The results of this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations will be published by 20 July, with all education boards across the country having been given specific and final instructions in this regard.

Education, Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon disclosed this while responding to questions from journalists at a press conference held at the conference room of the Ministry of Education on Monday (8 June) afternoon.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj and Prime Minister's Adviser Dr Mahdi Amin attended the programme as special guests. Senior officials of the two divisions of the Ministry of Education and directors general of the relevant departments were present at the press conference.

The press conference was organised on various ongoing programmes of the ministry, including the national-level Startup, Science Project and Innovative Idea Exhibition Programme and the Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament.

Ehsanul Haque Milon said, "The government is committed to facilitating students' access to higher education and preventing wastage of time after examinations. As part of this effort, all processes, including the evaluation of answer scripts of the ongoing SSC examinations, are being completed expeditiously."

He added, "The results of these examinations will be published simultaneously across the country by 20 July. The boards have been instructed to make all necessary preparations accordingly."

Emphasising the importance of maintaining punctuality in the education sector, the minister said, "A lot of time is wasted in our students' lives due to session jams. Where studies are supposed to be completed by the age of 18, many are crossing 20 because of session jams."

He said, "The country must prevent such wastage of time to fully utilise the demographic dividend. Not only SSC, but we are also bringing the sessions at higher secondary and university levels under a specific framework as well."

The minister also said three-year courses at higher educational institutions must be completed within three years and five-year courses within five years, adding that no waiting session or delay would be tolerated.

Regarding plans for the SSC examination in the next academic year, the minister said students would complete their syllabus by June 2026. To completely eliminate session jams, a draft routine has been prepared following discussions with stakeholders to begin the SSC examinations on 7 January 2027 and conclude them on 8 February 2027.

However, he said, public reactions and opinions on the proposed routine are being observed and a final decision would be taken, if necessary, after further discussions with students, teachers and guardians.
