Addl Foreign Secretary Ferdousi Shahriar passes away
A member of the 18th Bangladesh Civil Service (Foreign Affairs) cadre, Ferdousi Shahriar joined the ministry as an assistant secretary on 25 January 1999
Additional Foreign Secretary Ferdousi Shahriar passed away while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in the capital on Wednesday afternoon. She was 54.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she breathed her last at around 4:30pm.
A member of the 18th Bangladesh Civil Service (Foreign Affairs) cadre, Ferdousi Shahriar joined the ministry as an assistant secretary on 25 January 1999.
During her career, she served in various capacities at Bangladesh missions in Bangkok, Rome, Manchester and Washington, DC. She most recently served as Bangladesh's High Commissioner to Singapore before taking up the post of Additional Foreign Secretary.
She is survived by her husband, three children and numerous well-wishers.
Foreign Minister, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister's Adviser on Foreign Affairs, Foreign Secretary and all officers and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep sorrow at her death and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family.
