The Daily Star-Prime Bank felicitates 'O' and 'A' level meritorious students

The Daily Star and Prime Bank on Saturday honoured outstanding O Level and A Level students at a grand reception held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre, celebrating academic excellence under the theme "Saluting the Nation Builders of Tomorrow."

The programme commenced at 9:40 am with the national anthem in the presence of award-winning students, their parents, family members, teachers, friends and distinguished guests.

The event was graced by State Minister for Education Bobby Hajjaj as the chief guest. Mahfuz Anam, Editor and Publisher of The Daily Star, and Faisal Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Prime Bank, attended as special guests.

lAmong the invited dignitaries was State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku. His daughter, Samiha Binte Salauddin, was among the high-achieving students honoured for her outstanding performance in the O and A Level examinations.

The ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Zikra Hafez Noor of British Columbia School. Readings from other religious scriptures followed, reflecting the country's spirit of harmony and inclusiveness. Prothoma Das of Uttara Daffodil International School read from the Bhagavad Gita, Charles David Biswas of Academia read from the Bible, and Sabyasachi Barua of A.G. Church School recited from the Tripitaka.

This year's reception recognised a total of 2,545 students from 121 English-medium schools across Bangladesh. Of them, 1,928 were O Level students and 617 were A Level students.

Among the award recipients were 84 students who achieved the highest marks globally and 42 who secured the top position in Bangladesh in the O Level examinations. In the A Level category, nine students earned the highest marks worldwide, while 28 students ranked first nationally.

The event concluded with a colourful cultural programme performed by the award-winning students, marking the celebration of their academic achievements and inspiring them to contribute to the nation's future development.
