From earning his first $5 through an online assignment to leading marketing for an international Employer of Record (EOR) company, Prosenjit Biswas has built his career through persistence, practical experience and measurable results.

A mathematics graduate of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Prosenjit began his professional journey as a freelance video editor before moving into marketing. He now serves as Head of Marketing at Masdar EOR, a company that helps businesses hire, employ and manage workers across the six Gulf countries through its own licensed local entities.

His journey began in 2017, when he was in his first year at university. Facing financial difficulties after his father became paralysed, he started offering video-editing services on Fiverr to support his education and daily expenses.

Within three days, he secured his first $5 order. The same client later offered him a $100 project, encouraging him to continue. Over about two years, he earned nearly $4,000 through video editing while developing his professional skills.

From assistant manager to department head

Prosenjit joined Masdar EOR as an Assistant Marketing Manager, initially focusing on LinkedIn content, profile optimisation and outreach.

Within four months, the company added more than 3,000 followers and began receiving business enquiries. He subsequently took on email marketing and worked closely with the Head of Sales to understand potential customers and their needs.

The company’s first four email campaigns generated around 10 positive replies in a month, further strengthening confidence in his work. He later assumed responsibility for the website, SEO and Google Ads, while also recruiting colleagues and helping build a marketing team.

His promotion from Assistant Marketing Manager to Head of Marketing came through gradually expanding responsibilities and demonstrating measurable results.

Today, he leads the marketing department from Bangladesh, focusing on visibility, lead generation and sustainable growth.

Finding a niche in the Gulf market

One of the key marketing decisions in his career was positioning Masdar EOR around its direct presence, local expertise and operational strength across the Gulf Cooperation Council region.

Rather than competing directly with larger EOR providers on global reach and technology, he focused on the company’s own licensed local entities, regional presence and ability to support businesses across the six Gulf countries.

He incorporated that positioning into the company’s website, LinkedIn content, email marketing and SEO strategy, highlighting issues such as local employment, payroll, compliance and market entry.

The strategy was designed not merely to increase website traffic but to attract decision-makers and businesses actively looking for EOR services in the Gulf.

According to Prosenjit, the improved positioning, content and SEO strategy helped the website move from generating few meaningful leads to producing around 20–30 business enquiries a month.

Earning globally while living in Bangladesh

Working for an international company has also changed his financial circumstances.

Without disclosing an exact salary, Prosenjit said his compensation is broadly aligned with a Dubai-based pay scale and is higher than comparable opportunities available to him in Bangladesh.

He said this has improved his financial stability while allowing him to continue living in Bangladesh.

His career, however, has also included setbacks.

During the coronavirus pandemic, he left Transformative Consulting for a better-paid position. The new role was more focused on B2C marketing, whereas his experience and interests were in B2B marketing.

Advice for young Bangladeshis

For students and young professionals seeking international careers, Prosenjit places strong emphasis on communication skills and practical experience.

He advises young people to improve their English writing, speaking and listening skills because clear communication is essential when working with international clients, managers and teams.

He also recommends gaining practical experience through small paid assignments, personal projects or clearly defined voluntary work. Young professionals should document their contributions and showcase them through portfolios, CVs and LinkedIn profiles, he said.

Patience and continuous improvement are equally important, according to Prosenjit. Rejection and setbacks should be treated as opportunities to learn, build professional relationships and improve future efforts.

His own first assignment remains an example of that approach. A $5 video-editing job eventually led to a $100 project from the same client.

“I focused on delivering good work,” he said, adding that the experience taught him that small opportunities can lead to larger ones when they are taken seriously and skills continue to improve.
