Monik launches world renowned Walton brand in Sri Lanka

Leading microfinance provider Monik Group of Companies introducing its latest venture to the public, announced the launch of the world-renowned Walton brand of home appliances and consumer electronics in Sri Lanka last week.

Global electronics giant Walton, which was founded in Bangladesh in 1977 with German engineering technology adapted for South Asian climates, has now spanned across 50 countries making exports to Asia, Africa, Europe and North America.

Amongst the best selling Walton products around the world are its refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, compressors, televisions, electrical appliances, smartphones, laptops and many more.

Addressing the launching ceremony held at Cinnamon Life, CEO and Managing Director Monik Group of companies Dr. Wasala Maduwantha Ariypala said they are truly excited about what this partnership means for Sri Lanka and has always believed in identifying real needs in the market and finding the right solutions.

“Over the years we’ve noticed something very clear that there’s a real gap in the Sri Lankan market for reliable, high-quality home appliances that are also fairly priced. Also, customers often struggle to find brands that offer proper after-sales support. That’s exactly why we decided to bring Walton to Sri Lanka,” Ariyapala said.

He also said that they are going even further by planning to introduce doorstep after sales service and making the full Walton range available island wide both in Monik showrooms and authorized dealers as well as online via buymonik.lk.

“Thanks to our strong foundation in the finance sector, we’ll also be offering flexible payment plans making it easier for more Sri Lankan families to afford and enjoy these quality products,” the CEO assured.

Monik Group’s Manager; Imports and Service Manoj Philip addressing the launch said they are starting with a carefully selected range of high-demand products.

“In this initial phase, we plan to import inverter and non-inverter refrigerators, TVs, industrial and home air conditioners, blenders, industrial freezers, rice cookers, stand fans, gas cookers, smartphones and laptops," he added.

Meanwhile, Executive Director Walton Hi Tech Industries PLC Abdur Rouf said it’s a proud moment for Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC to officially mark its entry into the Sri Lankan market.

“We have full confidence in Monik Group’s financial strength, business integrity and most importantly their ability to adapt quickly to market trends. Their proven success across sectors like microfinance, retail, manufacturing and services shows a level of agility and commitment that perfectly matches Walton’s vision for Sri Lanka,” Rouf said.
